There’s something magical about preparing for the holiday season. The thought of bringing beautiful, thoughtful products into people's homes as they celebrate brings me so much joy. But behind the scenes, the reality of preparing a holiday collection with a tight deadline is far from magical—it’s a whirlwind of decision-making, creativity under pressure, and logistical juggling.

This year, we decided to offer a sneak peek collection for the holidays. It’s a small, curated selection that gives our community a taste of what’s to come while allowing us to work out the kinks before launching a full-scale product line next year. But launching a product, especially for the holiday season, requires careful planning, swift execution, and a willingness to make quick decisions.

Let’s dive into what preparing this sneak peek holiday launch has really been like.

Holiday Deadlines

Launching any product collection is a challenge, but the holidays add a special kind of urgency. The timeline is set—there’s no moving Christmas or delaying the Thanksgiving! From the very beginning, we knew we had to work quickly to meet these immovable deadlines. This meant having our designs finalized, products in production, and packaging ready to go, all in record time.

Balancing creative vision with production realities is always a dance, but it’s especially tricky when the clock is ticking. Every day mattered, and every decision needed to be made with both speed and care. The pressure to get things just right, and on time, has been intense—but it also exhilarating.

Balancing Creativity with Production Realities

One of the most challenging aspects of this sneak peek holiday launch was finding the sweet spot between my creative vision and the practical realities of production. I had so many ideas swirling in my head for products that would feel special and meaningful for the season—tea towels, aprons, puzzles, even candles—but the key was narrowing down those ideas into something that could realistically be produced in time.

Navigating Vendor Delays and Fast Iterations

Of course, no launch comes without its hiccups. As we moved into production, we hit a few bumps along the way, including unexpected vendor delays. We were working with a variety of suppliers—some local, some regional, some in North America and some overseas—each with their own timelines, production capacities, and challenges. Coordinating with multiple vendors meant that sometimes we were at the mercy of external delays—shipping issues, holidays, factory closures, or supply chain bottlenecks.

One of the keys to keeping things moving was flexibility. When one vendor experienced a delay, we quickly had to pivot and prioritize other products to keep our timeline on track. Our design process became more iterative—quick rounds of changes and approvals were essential to stay ahead of any unforeseen delays. I found myself learning to let go of perfection in favor of progress, trusting that the essence of Flowerie would still shine through.

Each product had its own unique timeline. For example, our gift wrap went through several iterations in a matter of days as we finalized paper choices, prints, pattern scale and colors. The candles were quicker, as we efficiently approved fragrance options with a local maker and nailed the logistics of creating a beautifully branded candle that reflected the coziness of the holiday season. The entire process required constant communication, quick decisions, and the ability to adapt on the fly.

Making Critical Decisions Under Pressure

When you’re racing against the clock, every decision feels critical. Should we wait for a delayed shipment of packaging, or pivot to a more readily available option? Should we adjust a product design to meet production capacities, or hold off and risk missing the holiday window?

These are the types of decisions we had to make, often under significant pressure. There were times when the easiest choice would have been to compromise on quality just to hit the deadline. But I knew that wasn’t in line with Flowerie’s mission. Instead, we focused on maintaining the integrity of each product, even if that meant scaling back, nixing a line or making last-minute adjustments.

At the end of the day, we didn’t want to rush—we want to deliver something beautiful and meaningful, even under challenging circumstances.

A Look Ahead

The timeline for this sneak peek holiday collection has been a whirlwind, full of tight deadlines and fast decision-making. But it’s also been an incredible learning experience. Every challenge we’ve faced has taught us more about how to streamline our processes, work with our vendors, and make decisions that balance creativity with practicality.

But there’s so much more that goes into navigating a launch, especially when it comes to managing vendor relationships and negotiating to meet tight deadlines.
